Welcome to the STEM Discovery Studio!
What happens when you give a child a battery, a bulb, and the question why does this work? Magic. This week, Hamleys Play and STEM Metaverse turn curiosity into hands-on discovery through five days of real circuits, real builds, and real engineering thinking. No textbooks. No rote. Just children who leave on Friday knowing and feeling how electricity works.
Every session includes 1 hour of structured LEGO® building with DoPlay Build followed by 1 hour of free play at Hamleys Play, with all activity materials thoughtfully included- because great learning deserves a great celebration!
How the Week Unfolds
- Day 1 — Basic Electricity with Lights & Fan: It starts with the simplest question of how does a tiny battery light up a bulb or spin a fan? Children build their first electric circuit and find out firsthand.
- Day 2 — Magic Wand: It looks like magic. It works like science. Children build a glowing wand and then crack open the secret hidden within i.e a circuit doing all the wizard work.
- Day 3 — Traffic Light: Red. Yellow. Green. Children build a working mini traffic light and discover how electricity makes a tiny city run on logic.
- Day 4 — Wooble Bot: It shakes. It wobbles. It never falls. Children build this quirky little robot and explore motion, balance, and circuitry in one delightfully wobbly session.
- Day 5 — Ferris Wheel: The grand finale. Children build a spinning ferris wheel powered by electricity, and in doing so, bring together everything they've learned across the week into a glowing moment of pride.
What Your Child Will Take Away
A child who once saw a light switch as just a switch will leave this week seeing a circuit. Scientific curiosity, foundational electronics, engineering thinking, problem-solving, and the deep satisfaction of having built something that actually works.
Meet the Educator: STEM Metaverse
STEM Metaverse is an EdTech platform delivering design thinking-led, experiential STEM learning through programmes that enable real-world application. Recognised by STEM.org among the top 5% of STEM experiences globally, and supported by institutions including IIT Delhi, the platform builds scalable, innovation-driven learning ecosystems for schools and learning spaces.
Co-founded by Ritika Amit Kumar (15+ years in education innovation and curriculum design) and Varun Mishra (CTO, IIT Bombay and IIM Ahmedabad alumnus, specialising in scalable EdTech platforms integrating AI, blockchain, and immersive technologies).
