Welcome to the Artful Play Studio!
Hamleys Play and Art Stories come together for a week of joyful, mixed-medium art. Every session introduces a new material, a new texture, and a new way for your child to express themselves through hands-on creation. By Friday, they’ll have a collection of unique artworks and a growing confidence in exploring creativity without limits.
Every session includes 1 hour of joyful art with Art Stories followed by 1 hour of free play at Hamleys Play, with all activity materials thoughtfully included- because great learning deserves a great celebration!
How the Week Unfolds
- Day 1 & 2 — Matisse-Inspired Blue Vase :has children explore pattern-making and design using lines and shapes to create a blue vase, learning symmetry and transforming it on Day 2 with handcrafted paper flowers into a 3D artwork. Focus: pattern, symmetry, and creative construction.
- Day 3 — Sun Catcher Painting (Glass Art): has children paint a sun catcher using glass colours, practising colour-filling within outlines to build control and precision, resulting in a stained-glass effect that glows in sunlight.
- Day 4 — DIY Stickers: has children draw, colour, and create their own stickers from scratch using pencils and markers, turning imaginative ideas into playful, take-home creations. Focus: creativity and fine motor skills.
- Day 5 — Nature Frame: has children use elements from nature to design and assemble a framed artwork, combining observation with tactile making. Focus: creativity, texture, and connection with natural materials.
What Your Child Will Take Away
Five days of creating, and your child walks away with more than just beautiful artwork — enhanced creativity, stronger fine motor skills, an understanding of colour theory, confident self-expression, improved pattern recognition, and growing artistic confidence.
Meet the Educator: Art Stories
Art Stories was founded by Niyati, who has a background in design and entertainment marketing. Art Stories was born from her observation that art for children was often guided but not imaginative — leading her to create a space that truly sparks creativity and independent thinking.
The studio is co-led by Aneri, trained in Applied Arts, who brings strong technical knowledge along with warmth and energy to every session. Their programmes have reached 800+ children over 2.5 years, with a focus on joyful, process-led art that celebrates each child's individual expression.
