Curated Classes & Activities for Children Kidiaree

The Characters & Craft Lab | BKC

Book club connecting young readers through fun, thoughtful literary meetups.

About the Workshop

Characters & Craft Lab by Pages & Pals in association with Nishka is an interactive workshop that blends storytelling with creative exploration. It encourages children to look at familiar book characters through a new lens and translate those ideas into simple, hands-on activities.

The session moves from reflective thinking to making—ending with a collaborative book-sharing experience that builds confidence and connection.

What to expect in a session

  • The Character Career Consultant – Kids explore their favorite book characters and dream up the perfect careers for them. Smart thinking starts here.
  • Foldable Stories (Origami Workshop) – A guided, screen-free session to create custom bookmarks using simple folding techniques.
  • Book Barter (Hosted by Mudra Mehta, Founder – Pages & Pals)
    • Present their book and explain why it’s worth reading
    • Engage in thoughtful exchanges with peers
    • Participate in a token-based lucky draw that decides the order in which they select a new book from the shared pile
  • Wrap-up with a take-home new skills and book- goodie bag

A few guidelines for attending Book Barter Session:

  • Bring along a book you’ve read before and would love to recommend to other kids.
  • Make a case for your book — why should someone read it?
  • All the books are then placed in a pile, and you are assigned a token number via lucky draw.
  • Your chosen token number decides your turn to take home a book from the pile.

What this workshop offers your child:

  • Analytical Thinking – Connecting character traits to real-world roles, strengthening reasoning and perspective.
  • Hands-on Crafting – Creating origami bookmarks, improving precision and hand coordination.
  • Creative Expression – Adding personal elements to designs, building ownership and individuality.
  • Book Sharing – Speaking about favourite reads, enhancing confidence and articulation.
  • Peer Interaction – Exchanging books, encouraging social engagement and openness.

About Nishka:

Nishka loves playing with different art mediums and has a bias towards working with clay. She has been creating paper collages for over a decade and her art has previously been exhibited on the walls of her home (a true honour). With a love for the whacky and absurd - she tries not to take life too seriously.
